The immigration office will be closed on February 3rd

Dear friends! In connection with the Pagerwesi Day celebrations, the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office informs that it will be closed on Wednesday 3 February, 2021. It will open as before from Thursday 4 February.

Pagervesi is celebrated every 210 days in the Balinese Pavukon calendar. Accordingly, it falls on different days of our Gregorian calendar. But every time it falls on Wednesday.

This is the day of veneration of the supreme deity Ida Sanghyang Widhi Wasa in the manifestation of Sanghyang Pramesti Guru as the true teacher of the universe and humanity. Balinese people believe that Ida Sanghyang Widhi Wasa can fill us with true knowledge and purity.

The name Pagervesi comes from the word “pager”, which means “protector, fence” and “wesi”, which translates as “iron”. By the way, in modern Indonesian now “pagar” is translated as “fence” and “besi” as “iron”.

It is believed that the iron fence is a symbol of the steadfastness of faith and human knowledge, because we protect the most valuable and important things with an iron fence. The Day of Pagerwesi reminds the Balinese of how important it is to strengthen their minds and their souls in order to resist evil forces.

In Pagervesi, the Balinese hold prayers in the houses and temples of the villages.

We wish you all a pleasant holiday!
