Visa-Free Entry to Indonesia for 30 Days: Who Qualifies and How to Apply
Indonesia keeps a visa-free entry policy for tourists from a number of countries. If you are a citizen of one of them, you do not need a visa for a short trip: you get a 30-day stay permit free of charge. The official name is Bebas Visa Kunjungan (BVK), tourist index A1.
Which Countries Qualify for Visa-Free Entry
Visa-free entry applies to citizens of the following countries:

What Visa-Free Entry Gives You
Visa-free entry grants a stay of up to 30 days from the date of arrival. It is free of charge and does not require a sponsor. The regime is intended for tourism only.
How to Apply: Two Ways
In advance, online: through the official immigration e-visa portal evisa.imigrasi.go.id, fill in the form and upload the required documents. Once approved, you receive an electronic entry mark. It serves as your stay permit and lets you use the automatic gates (autogate), saving time at the airport.
On arrival: present your passport and a return or onward ticket to the immigration officer.
In both cases, your passport must be valid for at least 6 months.
Do Not Confuse It with Visa on Arrival (VoA)
Visa-free entry (A1) and visa on arrival (VoA) are different things. Visa-free entry is free but cannot be extended. Visa on arrival can be extended. So if there is a chance you will want to stay longer than 30 days, apply for a visa on arrival (VoA) instead of visa-free entry.
The two are easy to mix up. A recent case: a client asked us to extend her visa, but it turned out she had visa-free entry, which cannot be extended. To avoid this situation, select the correct type when applying online, and tell the officer at the airport directly that you need a visa on arrival (VoA). If you are unsure, consult us in advance.
