Indonesia's Visa on Arrival May Get More Expensive

On 12 August 2026, Indonesia's immigration service announced plans to raise the fee for the visa on arrival — VOA (B1). The current government fee is IDR 500,000.

Planned fees:

  • IDR 750,000 — for an e-VOA applied for online before departure;

  • IDR 1,000,000 — for a visa obtained at the airport on arrival.

According to Hendarsam Marantoko, head of the immigration service, the current fee is too low given the swings in the rupiah exchange rate. The price gap is meant to encourage tourists to apply in advance and to shorten airport queues.

The date when the new fees take effect has not been confirmed yet. We are following official announcements and will update you as soon as there is news.

If you are already planning a trip, get your e-VOA before departure. Under the proposed scheme, it will cost IDR 250,000 less than getting the visa at the airport. And with an e-VOA and a biometric passport, you can use the automatic passport control gates.

If you haven't decided yet where to spend the winter, now is a good time to take a closer look at Bali.
