Requirements for Arrivals in Indonesia with a D12 Visa

The D12 Visa at a Glance

D12 β€” a multiple-entry offshore eVisa for those planning trips to Indonesia over one or two years.
It is an offshore visa, which means it is activated only once you enter Indonesia.

The D12 visa is issued for 1 or 2 years and allows you to stay in Indonesia up to 180 days per entry.
The visa can be extended once for another 180 days.

During the visa validity period, you can leave and return to Indonesia an unlimited number of times.
A new 180-day period will be counted each time from the date you enter the country.

The visa becomes valid from its issue date. The issue date is shown on the visa in the field Date of Issue.

What to Do Before Your Flight to Indonesia

1. Check your visa validity

The D12 visa becomes valid from its issue date.
The issue date is shown on the visa in the field Date of Issue.

The 180-day period of stay is counted from your date of arrival in Indonesia.

2. Print your visa

You can print your visa in advance or save it on your phone so that you have an electronic copy at hand.

You may be asked to show your visa:

  • At flight check-in;

  • At boarding;

  • At passport control.

3. Prepare a return ticket

To enter Indonesia, you need a return ticket or a ticket to a third country.
Your departure date from Indonesia must be within the visa validity period excluding extensions, that is, no later than 180 days from your arrival date.

Even if you plan to extend your visa, at entry your return ticket must fall within the initial period of stay: up to 180 days.

4. Pay the Bali Levy tourist tax

If you are flying to Bali, you must pay the Bali Levy tourist tax.
The tax amount is 150,000 IDR.

You can pay the Bali Levy:

  • Online before arrival;

  • Through the app;

  • On arrival at Denpasar airport.

If you need help paying the Bali Levy, message us and we will help.

5. Fill out the All Indonesia declaration

Before entering Indonesia, you must fill out the All Indonesia electronic declaration.
You can fill out the form no earlier than 3 days before arrival, or after landing.

Website for filling it out:
allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id

In the declaration, you need to provide your personal details, flight information, and, where applicable, details about your luggage, cash, electronics, and other items.
Once completed, you will receive a QR code.
Save the QR code on your phone or take a screenshot, as you may be asked to show it at the airport.

If you are carrying cash in the amount of 100,000,000 IDR or more (or the equivalent in another currency), you must declare it.

If you need help filling out the declaration, message us and we can fill it out for you.

6. Get travel insurance

Insurance is not a mandatory entry document, but you may be asked to show it.
We recommend getting insurance in advance, as medical care in Indonesia is expensive.

7. Your phone and IMEI registration

If you use a foreign SIM card on roaming, you do not need to register your phone.

If you want to use an Indonesian SIM card, your phone must be registered by IMEI:

  • for stays of up to 90 days, at a mobile operator's store;

  • for stays longer than 90 days, through customs (Bea Cukai), with a limit of 2 devices per person.

Registration through customs is duty-free only if you register the phone at your arrival airport and its value does not exceed 500 USD. Later, within 60 days of arrival, you can still register the phone, but duties and taxes will apply.

Without registration, an Indonesian SIM card will not work in your phone.

What to Do at the Airport on Arrival

After leaving the plane, follow the signs to the passport control area / Immigration.

On the way, you may see counters where visas on arrival are issued on the spot: Visa on Arrival / VOA.
You do not need to buy this visa, as your D12 visa has already been issued in advance.
Proceed directly to passport control.

1. Passport control

Please note: D12 is a pre-investor visa.

Please be attentive, composed, polite, and appropriately dressed when going through passport control.
We do not recommend drinking alcohol on the plane before arrival.

There are two ways to go through passport control at the airport:

  • Through Autogate automatic gates;

  • Through an immigration officer.

Which option you use depends on your passport type and the passenger's age.

If you have a biometric passport

If you have a biometric passport, you can go through passport control via the automatic gates Autogate.
This is usually a new-style passport, often valid for 10 years.

How to go through Autogate:

  1. Approach the automatic gates.

  2. Scan your passport.

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

  4. Once you have passed successfully, exit the passport control area.

If you go through Autogate, no stamp is placed in your passport; it will be electronic.
In this case, the electronic Stay Permit will be sent to our email, and we will then upload it to your personal account.

Important: if you went through the automatic gates, be sure to message us right after passing control and include your date of entry.
We need this to check your details, upload the electronic stamp to your personal account, and keep track of your visa validity.

If you do not have a biometric passport

If your passport is not biometric, you cannot use the automatic gates.
In this case, you need to go through passport control with an immigration officer.

Have the following ready:

  • Passport;

  • Your D12 visa on your phone or printed out;

  • Return ticket;

  • QR code of the All Indonesia declaration;

  • Insurance, if needed.

If you are traveling with children

Children under 6 years old cannot use the automatic gates.
If you are traveling with a child under 6, you need to go through passport control with an immigration officer.
Even if the parents have biometric passports, with a child under 6 you must go to an officer.

Passport control questions for the D12 visa

If the officer asks about the purpose of your visit, answer: Searching for investment opportunities.

After passport control

After passport control, be sure to check the end date of your permitted stay.

If you went through an officer, check the date on the sticker or stamp in your passport.
If there is an error in the date, contact an immigration officer at the airport right away to have it corrected.

If you went through Autogate, message us right away to let us know that you have arrived and passed through the automatic gates. Please also include the date you went through passport control.
Within a few business days, we will upload the electronic Stay Permit to your personal account. Once it is uploaded, be sure to check the end date of your permitted stay.

2. Declaration check

After passport control, proceed to the electronic declaration check area.
Here you need to show the All Indonesia declaration QR code.
Usually, simply showing the QR code on your phone is enough.

It is best to have the Bali Levy payment QR code with you, although you may not be asked for it at this stage.

3. Customs and exit

After the declaration check, you go through customs and exit into the airport's main hall.
From there, you can proceed to the exit, your driver, a taxi, or other transportation.

Do not throw away your boarding pass after arrival.
Immigration may sometimes ask you to confirm which flight you arrived in Indonesia on.

If you have lost your boarding pass, contact the airline.

The D12 visa allows you to stay in Indonesia up to 180 days per entry.
The visa can be extended once for another 180 days.

If you would like to extend your visa, message us 10–14 business days before your visa expires. This allows us to process the extension at the lowest cost.

You do not need a return ticket to extend this visa.

If you went through passport control via Autogate, be sure to message us after entry. We need this to check your details, upload the Stay Permit and accurately track your visa validity.

When re-entering Indonesia on a D12 visa, especially if you use Autogate, it is important to let us know about your entry right away.

When re-entering on D1, D2, and D12 visas, an error may occur in the Immigration system: the electronic entry stamp (ITK) may not come through.

If you left and returned to Indonesia via Autogate, we may not receive the ITK.
Without the ITK, we will not be able to accurately track your visa validity or process an extension. You may also face difficulties when departing, as the ITK may not appear in the system.

Recommendation: if you used Autogate to enter Indonesia, let us know right away and keep your boarding pass.

If you overstay your visa, the fine is:

1,000,000 IDR for each day of overstay.

Please keep track of your visa end date in advance and do not leave the extension until the last day.
After passport control, always check the end date of your permitted stay on the sticker, stamp, or electronic Stay Permit.
If the date is incorrect, contact an immigration officer at the airport right away.
