Case: Entry Refusal with a Remote Worker KITAS

Situation

The client obtained a remote worker KITAS (E33G) through a third-party agent.

At the border control, she was not allowed entry with the KITAS. Immigration officers demanded additional documents and asked numerous additional questions during the night. According to the client, the conversation was tense.

As a result, entry with the KITAS was denied. She was informed that she could enter with a Visa on Arrival (VOA), which she did.

What Happened Next

After returning, the agent informed the client that her KITAS was annulled.

However, upon checking the status, it turned out:

  • The KITAS remains active;

  • The entry corridor is valid until April 2026;

  • No official annulment occurred.

Thus, the information from the agent about annulment was not confirmed.

Contacting Legal Indonesia

The client contacted us to check the KITAS status.

We verified the data in the system and confirmed that the KITAS is active, and the entry corridor is valid until April 2026.

We explained the legal situation and possible further steps for correctly processing a new document.

Currently, the client is awaiting the deactivation of the current KITAS and plans to submit through another agent.

Why Situations Like This Happen

In practice, there may be cases where:

  • The visa is valid, but the applicant was not instructed in advance about the control procedure and possible additional questions upon entry;

  • The agent does not provide correct explanations about the document's real status;

  • The client is given false information about annulment.

It is important to understand that an intermediary's verbal statements do not always reflect the actual status in the system.

Important to Remember

If there are difficulties with entry or doubts about the accuracy of information from the agent:

  • It is necessary to independently verify the official visa status;

  • Do not make decisions based on verbal statements;

  • Seek independent advice.

We regularly encounter similar cases and help develop a legal action strategy.
